Book cover

I designed a new book cover for the novel One Night At The Call Center. The main aim of my new cover is to arouse the interest. In the center of the cover I placed a picture of a headset lying on a keyboard to create a connection to the title. Furthermore I made the use of another small keyboard in the bottom right corner and a telephone symbol on the opposite side. Moreover at the bottom I used a speech bubble to make it look as if the author would speak "A story of love and life".

One Night At The Call Centre Track inspired by the novel

This is my track I created inspired by the novel One Night At The Call Centre. I used traditional indian sitar instruments, panflutes and even telephone and keyboard sounds to make it more authentic to an indian call centre style. For the rhythm I made the use of bongo and conga drums and tambourines to remind to a typical indian music style. Furthermore I adjusted the length of the track to the novel. At 2:15 minutes, the telephone rings and shortly after that you can hear a high choir, this symbolizes the phone call of god. This track was created in FL Studio 10, you can download and share it. If the player does not work, simply click on the title of the track to get directly led to my Soundcloud page.

Diary entry of Esha

Dear Diary,

This night at 4:30 am someone called at the call centre with a cheerful voice. Me and my colleagues firsty did not know who it was and we thought this might be a joke. But it was not.
At the the other end of the line was god. We were stunned and amazed at the same time, and we did not know how to react and to prove that he is the real god. We decided that we want to talk to him and stated him our problems and lives. He said that we should listen to our inner voice and that all our problems are our own fault and relate to us ourselves.
This phone call opened me a new perspective and I thinkt my colleagues do also have another point of view now and know better how to deal with problems. It was just so amazing to talk to god and even now I am still overwhelmed and can not believe it.

Good Night

Song lyrics of Danger Danger - Never Give Up

Song: Danger Danger - Never Give Up

ANOTHER LONELY NIGHT
LOST IN THE SHADOWS OF THE NEON LIGHTS
SO MANY STRANGERS SO MANY LIGHTS
NOW IT ALL SEEMS THE SAME, MMM
ONLY THE NAMES AND THE FACES CHANGE
YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE
TRY TO REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES
TRY TO FORGET ALL THE PAIN
KEEP HOLDING ON, DON'T LET THE FEELING SLIP AWAY

NEVER GIVE UP
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THERE'S NO TOMORROW
LOVE COMES ALONG TO RESCUE A BROKEN HEART

I SEE IT IN YOUR FACE
YOU PAID THE PRICE FOR YOUR MISTAKES
BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANYMORE

TRY TO REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES
TRY TO LET GO OF THE PAIN
KEEP HOLDING ON, DON'T LET THE FEELING SLIP AWAY
OH

NEVER GIVE UP
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THERE'S NO TOMORROW
LOVE COMES ALONG TO RESCUE A BROKEN HEART

SUNSHINE'S KNOCKING ON YOUR WINDOW BABY
JUST GOTTA LET IT IN
IF YOU LET IT LOVE WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY
SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA LOSE TO LEARN HOW TO WIN

NEVER GIVE UP
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THERE'S NO TOMORROW
LOVE COMES ALONG TO RESCUE A BROKEN HEART
NEVER GIVE UP

NEVER GIVE UP, OH YEAH
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THERE'S NO TOMORROW
LOVE COMES ALONG TO RESCUE A BROKEN HEART
LOVE COMES ALONG
LOVE COMES ALONG TO RESCUE A BROKEN HEART

In my opinion the lyrics of the song Danger Danger - Never Give Up match perfectly to the novel One Night @ The Call Centre, because they include the message of the author Chetan Bhagat: "Never to give up". Another point why the lyrics match to the novel is that the aspect of love, which plays an important role in the lives of the characters in the novel, is mentioned in the song.

Book Review of One Night @ The Call Centre

The fictional novel One Night at the Call Centre was written by Chetan Bhagat and published in 2005. It includes 38 chapters, each stating a different time in one night. It deals with six call centre employees, working together in a connection, and the change of their lives in one night.
The story is narrated by Shyam, one of the six characters of the novel.

In the novel the author unfolds the problems in the lives of each character in a very emotional way. The reader gets confronted with all emotional levels the characters experience and also suffer from. The characters feel kind of crushed by the weight of their problems an try to escape from them by deciding to flow with the wind to reach their destiny.

Most of the events in the story are leading to one big event: The Phone Call from God. God himself recognizes the problems of the six characters and tries to tell them about the real meaning of the life by appearing at the other end of the phone line. He explains that their evasion of their problems is not the idea of life. The characters are very astonished and staggered that god appeared in their phone line.

The author tries to convey a message to his readers, using the problems, the lives of the characters and especially this event. He makes it very easy to identificate with one of the lives of these six characters and to start asking about one's life. Furthermore the Phone Call from God puts the reader in confusion and moves the reader to question the message of the author,  "Never to give up".

In my opinion the author remained to an emotional, fictional but typical indian style in his second novel. The novel has a happy ending with inter alia the call centre not getting out-sourced. I think this novel is recommendable and has an interesting exceptional structure. The author uses only one night, inwhich everything happens. This makes the novel even more interesting. I would like to conclude by saying that the novel is a good opportunity to spend time on.
